Lesson Policies and Terms

All students who partake in lessons will need to follow these policies and terms.
It is also expected that students and visitors treat each other, staff, and the horses with kindness and respect at all times.

Safety

  • Horse Riding is a high-risk sport, and accidents can always happen when riding and spending time around horses. Keep this in mind when considering if horse riding is the right activity for you.

  • You will need to fill out the student information and waiver document BEFORE your first lesson or camp.

  • As we are a busy working facility, please do not arrive more than 5 minutes before lessons* as you will need to be accompanied by a staff member on the farm. If you arrive more than 5 minutes ahead of your scheduled lesson time, please remain in your car.
    - *For camps we do request arrival 10-15 minutes early so we can start our meetings on time.

  • Like dogs, you should never approach a horse you don't know without asking first.

  • Do not enter any paddocks that you have not been invited into.

  • Please do not leave children not participating in camp or lessons unattended at any time.

  • Closed toed shoes are required to be worn by ALL visitors.

  • All visitors must follow the direction of any instructors or staff at all times.

  • Visitors must be accompanied by a staff member while on the farm.

  • Dogs are not permitted out of cars on site.

What To Wear

  • A PROPERLY FITTED HORSE RIDING HELMET is required for ALL riders.
    - Helmets may be hired, see details in the "Helmet Hire" section below.
    - It is your responsibility to ensure helmets meet current safety standards, and are replaced according to manufacturer's guidelines (ie. every 5 years, after a fall or significant drop, etc.)

  • Riders will need closed toe shoes, with no laces, and minimal tread/grip. This is important so that you or your child’s feet are safe in the stirrups. Riding boots are also very affordable, and are the best choice.

  • Sun smart and skin safe clothing must be worn by riders (shirts covering the shoulders and midriff, and full length pants & long socks.)

  • Visitors MUST also wear closed toed shoes, and farm appropriate, clothing. Horse riding is an outdoor activity and visitors are likely to come into contact with horse hair, mud, dirt, etc.

  • Weather appropriate attire for riders and all visitors. We do not have an indoor riding facility, so please dress appropriately for the weather (for example raincoats, gumboots, sunscreen, sunglasses, etc).
